MOBILE GAME UX/UI | AI COMMENTARY | INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPING

Bringing race commentary into the game

For Eggy Go, I designed the UI for an AI character commentator that followed the race, much like a commentator on a live sports broadcast. Players could see the character, read and hear its commentary, and close or reopen the feature.

My contribution: Screen-placement analysis, UI design, high-fidelity mockups and a playable Figma prototype.

Project period: Approximately 2022–2023 · Platform: Mobile · Tool: Figma

The challenge: add presence without taking attention away

The commentator needed to feel naturally embedded in the game while players concentrated on racing. My central design challenge was deciding where it should appear on screen so that the character and commentary could be noticed without distracting from gameplay.

Finding the right place on screen

I spent substantial effort analyzing screen placement for the feature. I considered its presence in the game interface alongside the player’s need to stay focused on the race. This balance between visibility and distraction was a major part of my design work.

A character players could see, read and hear

The feature combined a visible character with written and spoken race commentary. Players could close it and open it again, giving them control over whether the commentator was present during play.

Making the interaction playable in Figma

I created high-fidelity mockups and invested significant effort in building a playable Figma prototype. The work went beyond a static screen: I developed an interactive representation of the feature with a high level of visual detail.

My contribution to the wider team

Alongside the commentator feature, I contributed overall feedback to my team’s UX/UI analysis. The broader research, iconography analysis and HUD redesign were team contributions; my hands-on work in this case centers on the commentator UI and prototype.

Design work produced

My deliverables combined screen-placement analysis, high-fidelity UI design and a playable prototype. The case connects my mobile-game interface work with a specific challenge in AI character experiences: making the character part of play while respecting the player’s attention.

Original materials

I am recovering the original mockups and Figma prototype to add a visual walkthrough of the placement and interaction design.
